Our Approach
Diverse Roots uses a strengths - based approach to expand your child's skills, while also decreasing behaviours that are harmful, dangerous, and/ or negatively impacting their ability to learn & participate fully in their daily life.

Applied Behaviour Analysis
Diverse Roots uses Applied Behaviour Analysis (also known as "ABA"), the only evidence - based therapy approach that leads to long lasting positive changes in your child's life.
ABA is defined as the science of human behaviour (aka understanding why we do what we do) and is used to teach a variety of daily living, academic, fine & gross motor, social, play & leisure, & functional communication skills. Some examples include toileting, building friendships with peers, & advocating for our needs.
Diverse Roots utilizes ABA principles as a means of creating flexible programs to address the specific needs of your child, as well as family goals that matter to you.

1 - 1
Sessions
Therapy sessions take place in a naturalistic teaching environment that occurs in the form of play - based learning.
While academic and table work activities may be included in your child's therapy sessions, we prioritize movement and learning through real life experiences. This may take the form of going to a nearby park to work on gross motor skills or interactive games to increase social development (i.e. turn taking, flexible thinking, and being a good sport when someone else wins the game).

Team
Approach
At Diverse Roots, we encourage caregivers to play an active role in their child's therapy.
In order to see life long progress, learning opportunities need to take place across different settings and people in a child's life.
Let's work together to ignite your child's strengths and teach them alternative behaviours that will increase their connections and skills in their ever expanding world!
